The L/K Knights are known for their intense pride and determined commitment to building a strong, inclusive community. Newly built in 2006, L/K has a legacy of success through excellent staff, outstanding faculty, and long-standing traditions.
L/K embodies ùbúntú. Ùbúntú is a classical African concept originating in the Bantu language. A rough translation is, “I am, because you are” or “I am, because we are.”
Archbishop Desmond Tutu describes it as: “A person with ùbúntú is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.”
Nelson Mandela explains ùbúntú through this question: "What are you going to do so in order to enable the community around you to be able to improve?"
The L/K faculty, staff, and student leaders are dedicated to making the L/K experience as meaningful, enriching, and fun as possible. We are excited you are living here! Take time to learn more about L/K and our wonderful community. |
